Alt Academy Achieves Astounding Award
As part of a year-long project, students and staff from the district helped the Alt Academy donate hundreds of pounds of crayons to children in Nicaragua as part of the Crayons for Kids program. The efforts of students, staff, and families have helped make other kids' lives a little brighter, figuratively and literally.
The project got the attention of the Character Education Partnership, who awarded us with a Promising Practices Award. Each year, as part of the National Schools of Character program, CEP recognizes educators in the United States and elsewhere who have implemented unique, specific, and effective character education strategies.
We want to say thanks to everyone who contributed.

How Our Students ENGAGE
Every time one of our students commits their time or effort towards a good cause or charity, they are encouraged to write the name of the activity on a leaf to be placed on our Alt Academy tree.
The Alternative Programs offered in the Mehlville School District are designed to meet the needs of students who may struggle to achieve in our traditional high schools. Our educational software- Education 2020 offers students an interactive, in-depth, and rigorous learning experience. These opportunities are made available to a limited number of students who will take advantage of this unique opportunity. Any Mehlville District student, grades 8-12 may apply to participate in the Alt Academy or Virtual Academy. Applications for these programs are available in the counseling offices at both high schools.
